Bhatkal: A pedestrian lost his life in a tragic road accident near the Bhatkal Court on National Highway 66 on Wednesday around 5 PM. The deceased has been identified as Hussain Shabbir Bantwal (58), a resident of Kogti in Bhatkal.

According to sources, Hussain Shabbir was walking towards Shamsuddin Circle via the National Highway when a speeding bike coming from the opposite direction hit him.

He was immediately rushed to the Bhatkal Government Hospital with severe injuries. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 PM.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
