Dandeli: BJP city unit members staged a protest in the town on Saturday, claiming that the road construction works taken up under Nagarotthana from Somani Circle to Ganesh Nagar are of poor quality.

They said, instead of cleaning roads before starting construction work and using good quality jellies and tar, the workers of contractor N H Naik are using kerosene mixed low quality jelly stones and trying to finish up the works in hurry.

As soon as the protesters started expressing anger over poor quality works, contract workers escaped from the spot along with road roller and other material used.

Addressing the protesters, BJP Backward Classes Unit President Guru Mathpati said that the city municipal council administration is the reason for poor quality works. Hence, it should immediately stop the road works and should call a new tender for the same work.

Visiting the spot, City Municipal Council President Nagesh Salunke, and member Keerthi Gaonkar assured them of taking appropriate measures in this regard and said, they would call a meeting of contractor and not let him to do low quality road works.

BJP city unit vice president Chandrakanth Ksheerasagar, chief secretary Narendra Chavhan, yuva morcha vice president Ramesh Hosamanu and others took part in the protest.
