Kundapur: Owing to a huge wave, a 12-year-old boy drowned at sea after it hit him at Maravanthe beach in kindapKu taluk on Sunday, April 22.

The victim is identified as Muhammad Junaid, who hailed from Shiroor. During the incident, Junaid along with his parents and other relatives were on the way to Mangaluru.

They decided to stop at Maravanthe beach and spend some time near the shore. Junaid was hit by a huge wave and got washed away in the sea.

As the information about his drowning spread in the region, locals gathered at the spot and started searching the body. However, the body was later recovered and was shifted to Mangaluru.

A case is registered in Gangolli police station.
