Karwar: There are 11,34,513 voters in Uttara Kannada district who will eligible for the vote in the coming assembly election which will be held on 12 May 2018, Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul has said.
Speaking to media persons in Karwar, Nakul said there are 5,73,626 male voters, 5,59,974 female voters and 913 service voters in the district. They can check their names, polling station details and other details by sending an SMS of their e pic number to 9731979899.
Example- KAEPIC XYZ0000000. He also added that district administration has setting up 1,434 polling stations in six constituencies in the district. He told that if any one have complaint related to elections, they can call DC control room on ‘1077’ or send Whats App complaint to 9483511015 with pictures. Both service and complaint monitoring cells will be working round the-clock, he added.
He further informed that the district administration has made elaborate preparations to face the assembly elections.
Uttara Kannada Suprintendent of Police Vinayak Patil, who was also present in press conference, said that Central paramilitary force will come to district to ensure peaceful elections in the district as of now the police department has taken all measures and created new check posts at sensitive areas. He told that we have taken bonds from all rowdysheeters and those who have weapons were asked to deposit it with nearest police stations. Currently 4,400 weapons were deposited by public,” he added.
Both DC and SP appealed to the people to use social media in a positive way. “If anyone uses social media to disrupt peace, police cases will registered against them,” they said.
Meanwhile, government flex and hoardings with pictures of Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs were removed in Karwar and other towns and villages of the district on Tuesday. There were hundreds of hoardings and flex of politicians in the district displaying the state and union government’s achievements and development works. On Tuesday morning, following direction of deputy commissioner S S Nakul, all hoardings and flexes were removed in Karwar.
