Bhatkal: A 9-Year-Old boy reportedly lost his life after he went drowning in the Sharabi river in Belni under Bhatkal rural police station limit on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Ajay Narasimha Moger.

It is believed that Ajay accidentally slipped into the river when he was walking across the boundary of the river. The locals, who noticed him drowning, immediately rushed to his rescue. But unfortunately, by the time Ajay had already lost his life. 

The body was then brought out from the river and was shifted to Bhatkal govt hospital for post-mortem process. Ajay was a student of the third standard in Belni Govt school.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal rural police station.
