Kumta: Police have seized Rs 71,600 cash without valid documents, being transported by Ramaswamy, a trader, from Shringeri in Chikkamagalur district, at Katagal check-post in the town, on Wednesday.

However, Ramaswamy stated that he was on his way to Gokarna to purchase decorative and worshipping materials. But, he had not taken a print out of bank passbook after withdrawing the cash.

But, Election Officer Laxmipriya said he would get his money back only after providing valid documents.
