Karwar: The Uttara Kannada District and Karwar Taluk Committees of the State Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee have announced a special event on July 14 to celebrate the success of the 'Shakti Yojana', a key component of the Karnataka Government’s five-guarantee scheme initiative.
The celebration will be held at the Karwar Bus Stand at 10:00 AM, where, after offering pooja to the bus, sweets will be distributed to the public and passengers, and gratitude will be expressed to the government and the transport department.
'Shakti Yojana', the first of the five guarantees to be implemented, was launched on June 11, 2023. It provides free bus travel for women, girl students, and transgender individuals on state-run road transport buses across Karnataka. So far, the scheme has recorded over 500 crore free rides — a significant milestone being commemorated through events organized by district- and taluk-level implementation committees.
MLA of Karwar-Ankola constituency and MCA President Satish K. Sail, along with members of the Taluk Guarantee Development Committee, are expected to attend the event, according to Rajendra H. Rane, President of the Karwar Taluk Guarantee Development Authority.
