Mangaluru: A report on allegations has been sought regarding distribution of Anna Bhagya rice at a FPS (fair price shops) run by the government, said Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader on Saturday.
Addressing the media on 10th March, Saturday in Mangaluru Khader said, “A video was posted on social media by an activist on Friday alleging that a FPS run by the Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation in Bengaluru has been cheating poor families.”
“The activist in the video which has gone viral has shown FPS giving less quantity of rice to poor families. Therefore, a report has been sought from officials of the food and civil supplies department in Jayanagar”, he added.
The minister further thanked the activist Ravi Krishna Reddy for bringing the issue to his notice and assured that he will take necessary action to suspend the staff if the allegations are found to be true.
In the video, the activist had said that the staff member who is running the government-run fair price shop is getting more than Rs 25,000 per month and still he has been cheating each beneficiary. Instead of a beneficiary’s quota of 49kg, they are receiving only 30kgs of rice.
This video was posted on Facebook by the activist blaming the minister and it has reached more than 2.84 lakh views and over 6,800 shares, later the same video was viral on Whatsapp groups.
