Mangaluru: The classes for first-year undergraduate programmes under National Education Policy (NEP) in all 209 colleges coming under the jurisdiction of Mangalore University begun from Monday.
The university is offering 61 subjects under the UG programmes in the degree colleges. About 85% of the students in the colleges in DK, 75% in Udupi and 50% in Kodagu had attended classes on the first day.
Lecturers had been deputed to colleges to clear doubts on the implementation of NEP, Mangalore University Registrar Dr Kishore Kumar C K said.
The syllabus of 98% of subjects are ready and is uploaded on the website. If any Board of Studies had failed to submit syllabus, then the syllabus prepared by state committee for NEP will be implemented for first two semesters, MU Vice Chancellor Prof P S Yadapadithaya said.
