Mangaluru: Several parts of Dakshina Kannada district experienced moderate rainfall on Wednesday evening, accompanied by thunderstorms. The city of Mangaluru also received showers, while hailstorms were reported in Beltangady.

Most taluks in the district witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall. The showers brought much-needed relief to residents who had been struggling with rising temperatures for the past week. The mercury had soared past 40°C, making the heat unbearable.

The sudden downpour in Mangaluru during the evening was welcomed by the people, bringing respite from the intense summer heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier forecasted pre-monsoon showers in various parts of Karnataka. The department had predicted that sporadic rainfall could occur across the state until March 14, despite the ongoing summer heatwave.
