Faced with an ultimatum, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened an all-party meeting on Saturday to decide on the Supreme Court's Friday order to release 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu daily for six days from October 1, an official said.

Taking Karnataka to task for repeated "defiance" by flouting its orders for release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, Supreme Court today asked it to discharge 6,000 cusecs water from tomorrow till October 6, warning no one would know when the "wrath of the law" would fall on it.

Petrol price was today hiked by 36 paise a litre, the third increase in two months, but that of diesel was cut by 7 paise per litre in line with international trends.Petrol will cost Rs 64.57 a litre in Delhi from midnight tonight as against Rs 64.21 currently. Similarly, diesel will cost Rs 52.52 a litre as compared to Rs 52.59 at present.
