Kundapur: Need of coconut turned expensive for a youth in Gangolli, when he lost his life drowning in a river during an attempt to pick coconut from the river. The incident happened in Todalli river in Gangolli of Kundapur taluk on Sunday evening.

The deceased is identified as Ranjit Bhandari (25).

According to the sources, the incident happened when Ranjit jumped in the river to bring a coconut which was seen floating on the river bed. Sadly, the attempt turned horrible after he went drowning resulting in his instant death.

As the information spread, the locals rushed in huge number and brought the body out of the river and shifted to Kundapur govt hospital for post-mortem process.

A case has been registered in Gangolli police station and further investigations are on.
