Cong will win bypolls, people fed up with BJP rule: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the Congress party will win the by-polls in Karnataka because people are fed up with BJP's governance both at the centre and in the state.

"Congress will win both Sindgi and Hanagal seats in the bypolls. Because, the general public are fed up with BJP's rule at the centre and in the state. People are washing their hands with tears. Their lives have turned into hell. They have been severely hit by price rise," he told reporters at Mysuru.

He also alleged that not even one development work has been taken up in the state by the BJP government.

Replying to a question, Siddaramaiah said the bypolls result is not a barometer for assembly elections, but reflects the opinion of the people on the government's performance.

On JDS fielding minority candidates in both seats, Siddaramaiah said its intention is to divide Muslim votes and help BJP win the elections.

Replying to a query, he said Income Tax raids on Umesh, a close aide and ex-PA of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa, appears to be a politically-motivated action.

Umesh has allegedly been involved in an irrigation scam that was brought to light by BJP leader AH Vishwanath.
