Mangaluru: Shivaraj Naik, serving as a constable in Kadaba police station, has been placed under suspension and a departmental enquiry is underway,” IGP (Western Range) Devajyoti Ray told media persons after meeting the Forest officials in Kadaba police station on Tuesday.

The IGP said Shivaraj, accused of sexually assaulting a rape survivor, was arrested under the Pocso Act and produced before the court on Tuesday.

SP Sonawane Rishikesh Bhagawan said the rape survivor and her mother had been traced. Further probe is on, he said.
