Cricket for communal harmony: Muslim United Club to organize tournament in Karwar

Karwar: The Muslim United Club of Karwar will be organizing Uttar-Kannada district level overarm tennis ball cricket tournament in Maladevi ground, Karwar from 13th April to 22nd April 2018.

This ten-day long tournament will consist of teams from various taluks of Uttar-Kannada district. According to the organizing committee, it has been made mandatory that every team should have at least four non-muslim players and rest seven can be of Muslim community. This rule in the tournament has been planned by the management in order to unite players of all communities and spread the message of communal harmony through sports. The matches will be of 10 overs and entry fees per team is 3,000 rupees.

The champion team and the runners-up will be awarded the cash prize of Rs. 1,11,786 and Rs. 55,786 respectively along with the attractive trophies.

The grand inaugural ceremony of the tournament will be kicked off on 13th April at Maladevi ground and the closing ceremony will be on 22nd April at the same venue.
