Kasargod: As heavy rain continues in many parts of Kerala, educational institutes were declared holiday in Kasaragod, Thrissur, Alappuzha, and Malappuram today, Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kasaragod and Kannur, warning of extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.4 mm.
Meanwhile, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad, which were under a red alert yesterday, are now under an orange alert, predicting very heavy rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam remain under a yellow alert for the day.

The IMD has forecasted continued rain and thundershowers across Kerala until December 7. Strong winds, reaching 35-45 kmph with gusts up to 55 kmph, are expected along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea until December 4.
