Damudi Abdullah, Bhatkal's prominent social worker, educationist and Urdu litterateur passes away

Bhatkal:  Damudi Abdullah, one of the most recognized faces in Bhatkal and the founder of Madar e Hawwa Islamic school passed away at his residence on Wednesday afternoon, August 01, 2018. Mr. Damudi was also known as an active member of Bhatkal's leading NGO Majlis e Islah wa Tanzeem. He was aged 77 when he breathed his last.

Known for his love of Urdu and his active role in many social initiatives at Tanzeem, Mr. Damudi Abdullah was a prominent face among the Bhatkali populace. He used to act as the master of ceremonies in many cultural and social programs and was a vocal member in Bhatkal's major educational institutions, including Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen (an umbrella organjzation under which, the town's majority of schools and colleges are run) where he has served as a secretary. 

Mr. Damudi was also recognized as an expert organizer in the town. At the famous exhibition during the Golden Jubilee Convention at Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, he had successfully created a life-size arena depicting traditional Bhatkali Nawayti life style which had garnered a huge positive response. He also served as the convenor of one of the biggest programs in Bhatkali history, the centenary celebration of Majlis e Islah wa Tanzeem, which was attended by many national leaders and famous personalities and ended with a high note in the year 2014.

Mr. Damudi is survived by his wife and 5 daughters. He is the maternal grand father of SahilOnline's news anchor Mr. Safwan Motia.

With his social service, Mr. Damudi Abdullah had also come to be known and respected beyond Bhatkal, throughout the whole Uttar Kannada district. 

Leaders, office bearers and members of Bhatkal's social and educational institutions have expressed their sadness over his demise and Have called it a great loss for the community.
