Two arrested for trafficking 226 cartons of illicit Goan liquor worth ₹ 8 lakh

Dandeli: The excise officials have arrested two persons involved in trafficking of illicit Goan liquor worth of ₹ 8 lakh to Karnataka and also seized the truck in which it was made to transport. The accused duo were then produced in the court.

The Goan made brands including 67 cartons of Royal stag, 60 cartons of Casino whiskey, 36 cartons of Royal whiskey and 63 cartons of Kingfisher brand liquor packages were seized along with the Eicher truck. They were caught red-handed during a raid that carried near Anmod police station. The estimated cost of the vehicle is around 5 lakh rupees, whereas the value of illicit liquor is estimated to be around 8.78 lakh rupees.

The truck driver Dinesh Kumar Khanna Ram of Rajasthan and Cleaner Kamlesh Babulal were arrested and then produced in the court. The search for the owner of the truck is under process.

District Excise vice commissioner Sham Joyce and special investigation officer Ramesh Kumar, Chief of district investigation team Santosh Kodalkar, Yellapur inspector GS Naik, Dandeli inspector GV Vaidya along with other excise officials were present during the raid.
