Davangere: A workshop titled "Pursuit of Legal Justice" was organized by the APCR Davangere on Sunday to enlighten citizens about the newly implemented criminal laws and their rights. The event, held in Davangere, aimed to empower the community through understanding the legal landscape.
Advocate Syed Akmal Rizvi, a seasoned Karnataka High Court lawyer, was the keynote speaker. He discussed the practical implications of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which have replaced the historic Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively. Rizvi emphasized how these changes will impact people's daily lives.
Senior journalist and social activist Shivasundar also addressed the gathering, highlighting the media's role in shaping public opinion and fostering legal awareness.
Attendees displayed a keen interest in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the new laws and engaged in lively discussions with the experts.
APCR Davangere General Secretary Nizamuddin welcomed the participants and outlined the workshop's objectives. APCR Bangalore Coordinator Waseem provided an overview of the organization, while Abdul Rehman served as the master of ceremonies. The event concluded with a presidential address and a vote of thanks by APCR Davangere Chapter President Mohammed Khalid.
