Karwar: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul said facilities have been created at all polling booths in the district for physically challenged persons to cast their votes during the ensuing elections under the ‘Neravu’ project.
Voters survey
Chairing a meeting of officials involved in the survey of physically challenged voters here, on Saturday, tghe deputy commissioner said the project has been designed in such a way that all the physically challenged persons can come and cast their votes without any difficult.
In this regard, the deputy commissioner has asked the survey officials to visit each of the households and collect all the details pertainingly to the physically challenged persons and their requirements at the booths.
Letter to EC
He said the district administration has written a letter to election commission to provide a provision to bring physically challenged voters to polling booth. If we receive permission, we will provide that facility too, he said.
At present, the district administration has constructed ramps at all the polling booths and provided wheel chairs at few polling stations. In places where there are more number of physically challenged persons, such booths will be considered as model polling booths measures will be taken accordingly.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer L Chandrashekar Nayak, Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna and others were present on the occasion.
