Belthangady: Prime accused of attempt to rape case nabbed in Kerala

Belthangady: The prime accused in the attempt to rape case of a Dalit girl at Kalmanja has been arrested by the Dharmasthala Police on 13th February, Tuesday.

The accused identified as Rejeesh was absconding and the arrest was made at Alavara in Kerala.

According to the sources, Reejesh and his friend had allegedly molested a Dalit girl who was returning from school after forcibly pulling her out of the auto rickshaw in which she was travelling.  However, the girl managed to escape.

Following the incident, a case was registered at the local police station and Reejesh was booked under POCSO Act.

Reejesh had absconded to Kerala since the case was filed and after investigation, the Dharmasthala police officers were successful in arresting him.

He was produced to the court and has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
