Dharwad: Culprits who looted lorry driver arrested after two months

Dharwad: Police have arrested two accused in connection with the incident of thrashing a lorry driver and then looting him. The accused are Malik Hazratsab Bepari and Sanjaya Basavaraj Sutagatti of Azad Nagar and Jannat Nagar in Dharwad respectively.

Police have also recovered an auto rickshaw bearing registration number KA-25-AA-8912, looted amount of Rs 27 thousand along with a mobile phone from the culprits' possession.

Recalling the incident, it might be remembered that on 25th January morning at around 6'o clock, the accused duo had stopped a moving lorry on Dharwad-Alnavar highway and looted the driver who was on the way towards Goa from Dharwad. The victim was Adam Muhammad Inamdar, hailing from Maharashtra. The culprits had fled the scene immediately after looting cash from him before the locals could rush to the spot. In this regard, a case was also filed at Dharwad rural police station.

Acting on the complaint registered, Dharwad police team on 26th March, Monday were fruitful in nabbing the duo accused red-handed when they were planning for another attempt of loot near Autorickshaw stand located near Narendra bypass highway. 

A team of police officials led by CPI Prashant Nayak, PSI Anand Thakkannavar, SI M N Kapali, V Murugoda, F K Pathan, AA Kaakar among others participated in the investigation.
