Uttar-Kannada district to have 12 pink polling booths

Karwar: For the upcoming May 12 Karnataka assembly elections, in Uttar-Kannada district, the election commission has identified 12 polling booths as ‘pink booths’, where women voters are highest. 

Similarly it has also identified six polling booths across six constituencies in the district as ‘PDWD booths’, where physically challenged voters are more.

Talking to media, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Chandrashekar Nayak said, while the Pink and PDWD booths will give more priority to the women and physically challenged voters. This year we have taken this decision to make sure that all the voters in the district cast their votes.

Following are the pink polling booths in the district:

Haliyal-Joida: Government Kannada Media School, Joida South and Carmel High School, Haliyal (Room No. 5B).

Karwar-Ankola: St. Michael Convent, Karwar (right) and Sadashivgada High School (left).

Kumta-Honnavar: Government Higher Primary Sharda Nilaya School, Manki and Government Higher Primary School in Gunda.

Bhatkal-Honnavar: Government Higher Primary School, Venkatapur and Anand Sharma Convent, Bhatkal (West).

Sirsi-Siddapur: Shri Marikamba PU College, Court Road and Higher Primary School in Siddapur, Kondli.

Yallapur-Mundakoda: Government Higher Primary School Sabaragiri and Government Kannada Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Yellapur (Near Mahila Mandal).

Following are the polling booths for physically challenged voters:

Haliyal-Joida: Government Higher Primary Kannada medium school, Bidrolli.

Karwar-Ankola: Government Higher Primary School Hegre.

Kumta-Honnavar: Government Lower Primary School Gungunikere.

Bhatkal-Honnavar: Siddivinayaka High School, Kolagadde

Sirsi-Siddapur: Gram panchayat premises, Koddanagadde.

Yellapur-Mundgod: JUHPS Machagalli.
