Dubai: The Bhatkal Premier League (BPL) is set to ignite cricketing fever in Dubai as it announces its 11th edition, scheduled to kick off on December 29, 2024, and conclude on January 26, 2025, coinciding with Indian Republic Day. Eight teams will battle it out at the JMR Cricket Ground on Dhaid Road, Sharjah, as revealed in a press release issued by BPL Chairman Yasir Kashimji and BPL Commissioner Taha Muallim.

According to the press release, the tournament will showcase 15 thrilling matches spread across five Sundays, starting on December 29, 2024.

The team registration window will be open from November 2 to November 10, 2024. The four semifinalist teams from the previous edition will have the option to retain their spots, while the remaining slots will be open for new entries submitted via email to bpluae@yahoo.com, pending approval from the BPL committee.

For aspiring players with UAE resident or visit visas (excluding guest players, as each team is allowed to acquire only one visit visa player through the auction), player registration will be conducted online from November 12 to November 25, 2024, at www.bpluae.net.

The player auction ceremony is scheduled for December 8, 2024, in Dubai, where registered players will be available for teams to bid on.

According to the press release, matches during the league phase will begin at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM, featuring doubleheaders. The excitement will intensify as the tournament progresses, with the two semi-finals scheduled for the fourth week and the grand finale in the fifth week.

Icon players must hold UAE resident visas, while guest players may participate with either visit or resident visas. The tournament format promises fierce competition, with eight teams divided into two groups. Each team will play three matches within its respective group. Following the group stage, the top two ranked teams from each group will secure spots in the semifinals.

Additionally, JAN & BROS has extended its steadfast support as the main sponsor, a partnership that has flourished since last year.
