Dynamic Duo from Uttara Kannada; Chandrayaan Team's Scientists: Bonds with Bhatkal and Murdeshwar

Bhatkal: It has come to light that two individuals from North Canara were integral members of ISRO's historic Chandrayaan-3 mission team. Notably, one of these members formerly served as a lecturer at Bhatkal College, while the other received education in Bhatkal.

Dr. Jagdish Chandra S. Naik, a scientist hailing from Karwar, worked as a lecturer at Bhatkal Anjuman Engineering College in 1997. Another scientist, Akash Ashok, who originates from Murdeshwar in Bhatkal taluk, pursued his primary education at Iqra High School, Murdeshwar, and New English High School, Bhatkal.

Sources reveal that Dr. Jagdish S. Naik completed his early education at New High School in Baad, Karwar, and graduated in Electronics and Communication from Sullia in Dakshina Kannada. He subsequently earned his postgraduate degree (M.Tech) from Manipal Institute of Technology and Manipal Institute of Computer Science.

Dr. Jagdish S. Naik has actively participated in various projects related to satellite launches and data collection at India's prestigious space agency, ISRO. He also holds a PhD in Image Processing. Currently, Dr. Jagdish serves as the Deputy Project Director (Mission Software) for Microsoft:20/2 and as a Project Manager for other initiatives.

Dr. Jagdish's significant contributions played a pivotal role in the success of ISRO's space project, garnering admiration and recognition on a global scale.

Similarly, Akash Shetty, a resident of Shetty Kere, Murdeshwar, completed his pre-university education at Kota Vivek Junior College in Kundapur Taluk. He has been an engineer at ISRO since 2015 and pursued his higher education at Malinadu Engineering College, Hassan. Akash Shetty made substantial contributions to ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 mission, specifically in the assembly of the lunar lander, inspection, and the development of the rover ramp intended for moon landing. Additionally, he was involved in the separation of the Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA).
