Bhatkal: Bhatkal, Kumta, Byndoor, Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, and neighboring Kerala celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with full enthusiasm on Wednesday, while the rest of the country observed it on Thursday.

During the Eid prayers at Bhatkal Eidgah, Maulana Khawaja Moinuddin Akrami Madani, Qazi Markazi Khalifa Jamaatul Muslimin Bhatkal, addressed thousands of Muslims. He emphasized that India is their homeland, a nation for which their forefathers and many Muslims sacrificed their lives. He stressed the importance of contributing to the country's development and presenting a true representation of Islam through actions and character to dispel misconceptions about the religion, thereby fostering peace and brotherhood.

Maulana Madani passionately urged Muslims to steadfastly adhere to their faith, undeterred by oppression, asserting that attempts to erase their faith would fail while the oppressors themselves would be destroyed. He provided several historical examples to underline this point. Addressing the youth, he emphasized the importance of resisting any efforts to sway them from their faith, urging steadfastness in the beliefs of monotheism, prophethood, the finality of prophethood, the afterlife, and the concepts of heaven and hell.

The day began with a procession at 6:45 AM led by Abdul Rahman Jan Mohtisham, Maulana Abdul Aleem Qasmi, and Maulana Ansar Khatib Madani from Jamia Masjid, reaching the Eidgah at 7:15 AM. Maulana Khawaja Akrami Madani then led the Eid prayer, followed by a sermon in Arabic and Urdu.

The grounds of the Eidgah, along with Bundar Road, Asiya Hospital Road, and Noor Masjid Cross Road, were crowded with worshippers. Additional worshippers gathered at the New English School grounds adjacent to the Eidgah.

Security measures were strictly enforced, with police stationed at key locations throughout the city to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.
