Muslims in Coastal Karnataka to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr tomorrow

Bhatkal: Muslims in coastal belt of Karnataka will be celebrating Eid Ul Fitr tomorrow on Friday, June 15, as the crescent moon of Shawwal was sighted in the Calicut of Kerala on Thursday evening.

Confirming the moon sighting, Bhatkal Qazis Maulana Iqbal Mulla Nadvi and Maulana Khwaja Akrami Madani declared the end of Ramadan and beginning of Shawwal. They also urged the Muslims to celebrate the festival according to the principles and teachings of Islam and pray for the peace and communal harmony in the region.

After receiving the reliable reports of moon sighting confirmation from Bhatkal Qazis, the Jamat Ul Muslimeen committees in the coastal region of Uttar Kannada district including Kumta, Manki, Murdeshwar, Saralgi, Samsi too declared the celebration Eid Ul Fitr on Friday. 

On the other side, Udupi Qazis Ibrahim Musliyar Beklar and Maulana Ubaidullah Kandluri Nadvi and Dakshina Kannada Qazi Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar too confirmed the moon sighting and declared Friday as the Eid Ul Fitr celebration day in their respective regions.
