Kasargod: A tragic incident was revealed here at Uduma on Friday where the dead body of an elderly lady was found at her house with her hands and legs tied. It was also found out that jewellery and cash were stolen from the house.
The deceased woman has been identified as Zubaida (60), a resident of Uduma Ayyampara.
The incident came to light at noon on Friday when a local went to Zubaida’s house to enquire about her as she was not seen for two days and discovered the body. The police suspect that the murder was committed two days ago.
During the primary investigation, the police found out that both the entrance doors were locked from the outside, two lime glasses of lime juice were present at the house and the gold jewellery items which Zubaida used to wear were missing.
This is the second such case in the past few months in Bekal. Few months ago, a woman named Devaki was murdered and cash and valuables were robbed from the house. However, the police were not successful in nabbing the culprit.
A case has been registered at Bekal police station and Bekal police, senior police officers, forensic experts and canine squads have reached the spot and started investigations.
