Karwar: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul issued an order for the conduct of bypolls to elect five members for the vacant posts at Karwar, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yallapur and Mundgod taluks in the district.

June 2 is the last date to submit the nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on June 4 and June 6 is the last date to withdraw nominations. The election would be held from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on June 14 and vote counting will be held on June 17 at respective taluk centres, said a press release.

In terms to maintain law and order during elections, deputy commissioner has ordered to close wine shops, bars and restaurants at Boribhog in Karwar, Huttagar ward number-1 at Sirsi taluk, Halageri in Siddapur, Kampli (Manchikeri) in Yallapur taluk and Hungund gram panchayat area in Mundagod from May 30 to June 17.
