Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, a labourer was electrocuted and around eight others received injuries after an electricity passed through them while repairing a high tension line at Malavoor near Bajpe on Wednesday, 18th July.

Sources said that the deceased is Ganesh Gowda (55), a resident of Tenka Edapadavu in Moodbidri. 

Bajpe Police have filed a case against MESCOM officials and contractor Tanu Electricals owner, on the charges of negligence, which led to loss of life.

It was also studied that the high tension electric wires that supply electricity to Mangaluru International Airport were dangling and new poles were being erected on the stretch. The power supply was disrupted on the stretch.

When a new electricity pole was being erected near Malavoor bus stand at 11.15 am, it came in contact with a high tension line. As the labourers fled, the electric pole also fell on Ganesh, killing him on the spot.
