Elephant calf captured in Mudgod; sent to camp

Mundgod: The forest department officials, on Monday evening, successfully captured the elephant calf, which was sighted alone in the Kathur forest range.

The elephant calf, which is suspected to have separated from its herd, has been wandering in the border areas of the village since the last two days. 

Stating that the calf might have got separated from its herd, officials said, the calf was first spotted near a water body in Korli, on Sunday.

A special team headed by Range Forest Officer K Mahesh was formed to capture the elephant calf. The one-year-old male calf was captured near a house in Kodambi Halla and was later shifted to Sakrebyle Elephant Camp in Shivamogga district, informed RFO K Mahesh.
