Enable plastic-free habitat, people told

Honnavar: With increasing usage of plastic in present day, human beings and other living organisms are facing problems and the environment is getting polluted. Hence, all should strive to create plastic-free environment, Deputy Conservator of Forest Vasanth Reddy K V said.

He noted this while speaking after taking part in the cleanliness drive organised as part of World Environment Day, held on a beach, in Kasargod, in the taluk, on Wednesday.

He called upon people to take part in cleanliness programmes in the society and to maintain hygiene in their households to prevent diseases and disease-causing microbes. Efforts should be made to create a healthy environment to lead good lives in futute, he opined.

Block eductaion officer Girish Padaki, Assistant Conservator of Forest Nandessh L, Range Forest Officer P C Raveendra, Majharello High School students, members of various local organisations, associations were present on the occasion.

The cleanliness drive was taken out from Apsarakonda to Kasargod. The sand art, quoting a message about preventing heavy plastic use, created on the beach in Kasargod attracted a huge number of people.
