Lucknow: Renowned Islamic Scholar and President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Rabey Hasni Nadvi passed away here on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 93.

Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, Senior executive member of the board, told, Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadvi breathed his last around 3.30 PM at the Islamic Educational Institute Nadwatul Ulama in Lucknow. Nadvi was brought to Lucknow from his ancestral home in Raebareli four days ago as he was suffering from pneumonia, Mahali added.

Late Maulana is survived by three daughters.

Maulana was serving as the president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board for the last 21 years.

His funeral prayers held at 10 PM in Nadwa and the body will be laid to rest in Raebareli on Friday.
