Bhatkal: Theft incidents in the taluka are continued and thieves are committing theft without any fear. The latest incident reported in the office of Bharat Gas Distribution in Mankuli of the taluk, where the thieves break the door and entered the office and escaped with five lakhs in cash. The entire incident of theft has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the office.
Bharat Gas Distributor Dinkar Vittal Kini filed a police complaint regarding this incident, stating that he had gone to Tirtahalli in neighboring Shimoga district on private work and returned on January 2. He was tired by travel so he had left the bag which contains Rs. 5,11,742 in cash in the office. When he reached the office on the morning of January 3, he was shocked to find that the door was broken and the bag was theft.
He informed the police who rushed to the spot. When the CCTV footage was scrutinized, it was found that the deed of the masked thieves was captured on the CCTV of the office.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal Town police station.
Anxiety among people: Seeing the increase in theft incidents in Bhatkal, people are in tense and anxiety. The incidents of theft are happening continously and thieves are breaking into houses, shops, offices and garages etc without any fear and stealing peoples hard earned money. People are also expressing surprise that the police is unable to trace the thieves despite the activities of the thieves being caught on CCTV. Now people are forced to say that in future they will have to go ahead and catch the thieves themselves and hand them over to the police.
