Bhatkal: In the latest incident of theft reported in Bhatkal, perpetrators made away with nearly one lakh rupees from the cupboards at Mr. Badrudduja Barmawar's residence on Nagappa Naik Road. The incident occurred during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when the family was away at their daughter's house in the same area.
Mr. Barmawar clarified that no gold or jewelry was stored at home, only cash. The thieves, unable to find valuables in the closets, resorted to breaking wardrobes and doors in what appears to be an act of vandalism. The entire house was ransacked. Barmawar expressed that the damage to valuable doors and cupboards far exceeds the monetary loss from stolen cash, amounting to lakhs.
The homeowner revealed that he and his wife were at their daughter's house due to her delivery on Saturday night. Upon returning at ten o'clock on Sunday morning, they discovered the entrance door broken. The bedrooms' doors and cupboards were also forcibly opened, not sparing even the three-bedroom on the first floor.

Upon receiving the information, town police officials promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Police suspect that the burglars entered through the front door, ransacked the house, and potentially escaped through the back door with the stolen cash.
CCTV footage around the residence is being examined in an effort to trace the thieves. A case has been registered at the town police station, and investigations are underway.
