Bhatkal man dies in road accident near Kundapur

Kundapur: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 49-year-old Bhatkal resident, identified as Mohammad Nasir Siddiqua (Ghati), son of the late Abubakar Siddiqua. He was a resident of Moosa Nagar in Bhatkal. The accident occurred near Arate Bridge on NH 66, approximately 9 km from Kundapur, at around 8:45 PM on Monday. He was returning home from Mangalore with his family members when the incident took place.

It is said that Nasir had stopped his car after hearing unusual sounds from the vehicle. He parked on the roadside and stepped out to inspect the issue. As he was about to re-enter the car, a private bus traveling in the same direction struck the car door, causing severe injuries to Nasir.

A 24x7 MHI ambulance from Gangolli arrived promptly at the scene, and Nasir was rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The private bus involved in the accident was reportedly on its way from Kundapur to Gangolli.

Nasir's body has been shifted to the Kundapur Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination, after which it will be transported to Bhatkal following the completion of formalities.
