Bhatkal: The widening of four-lane National Highway and the onset of monsoons has given rise to problematic circumstances. The rain water on the road construction sites has flowed into the water well located near Bedrakeri in Belke gram panchayat limits contaminating it, thereby making it unfit for consumption.

The water well belonging to Ramanand Bharat of Bedrakeri in Belke gram limits had enough drinking water utilised by them and their neighbors alike. Unfortunately, the rain mixed up with the sludge water flowed into the well.

As per the sources, the IRB company has left the land surrounding the water well during the widening of road but had excavated CD closer to the well resulting in flowing of muddy water, thus creating a problem.

The public were outraged against the road constructing IRB company and urged the inspection of the areas wherever the construction is taking place as to avoid such incidents. The well owner demanded that the company should provide him with a water well.

Upon hearing the news, leader of Kisan sangha, Shridhar Hebbar rushed to the spot and talked with the officers of National Highway authority.
