Bhatkal: A young man, reportedly distressed over his inability to repay loans, took his own life by hanging himself in the lodge where he worked.

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Timmaiah Naik (25), a resident of Heble Honnegadde. He worked part-time at the lodge from 7 PM to 7 AM and was employed during the daytime at a private society in Tengingundi.

According to sources, Sandeep returned home on Friday morning after completing his night shift and later went back to the lodge. Tragically, he was found dead in room number 307 between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. It is believed that the financial burden of repaying loans weighed heavily on his mind, leading to this extreme step.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at Bhatkal Town Police Station by his brother, Shekhar Timmaiah Naik. PSI Naveen Naik, forensic expert Ramesh, and other police officials visited the scene and conducted investigations.

Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister Mankal Vaidya also visited the government hospital, where he met the grieving family and offered his condolences.
