Media reports have disclosed that the Tata Sumo, carrying a total of 14 passengers, collided with a stationary lorry on the road. Eyewitnesses attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

The aftermath of the collision was immediate and dire, with five people succumbing to their injuries on the spot. An additional seven lost their lives en route to the hospital, while another woman trapped inside the Tata Sumo breathed her last around 9:15 am.

Tragically, all the deceased were residents of Gorantla town in Andhra Pradesh who had been residing in Hongasandra, Bangalore. They were primarily engaged as laborers.

According to media reports, the victims included nine men, three women, and a child, with one woman remaining in critical condition.

According to reports, District Superintendent of Police DL Nagesh has confirmed the death toll of 13. He cited the early morning fog as a contributing factor, with the Tata Sumo driver unable to spot the parked lorry on the road's side.

SP DL Nagesh personally visited the accident site and expressed that efforts were underway to contact the relatives of the deceased. Some are already en route to Chikkaballapur, and more details will be available once the relatives arrive.
