Mangaluru: Pending files in government offices will result in corruption, as emphasized by Dinesh Gundu Rao, the District In-Charge Minister of Dakshina Kannada. 

During his address at the district-level launch of the Gruha Jyothi scheme at Puttur's Town Hall, he asserted the need for officials from all departments to promptly clear pending files. Rao stressed that this measure would prevent inconveniences faced by applicants and deter the emergence of corrupt practices.

He also announced his intention to institute a monthly evaluation system for file disposal within the district. In line with this objective, he tasked the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the zilla panchayat to conduct regular audits on pending files in government offices.

Discussing the guarantee schemes, Rao noted that an impressive 90% of beneficiaries had already registered for these programs. He emphasized the importance of boosting individual incomes for overall national development.

Rao also highlighted a significant decision made by the cabinet – the elevation of the Coastal Development Authority to the Coastal Region Development Board. This move is expected to secure increased funding for the Board's operations. Furthermore, he announced plans to introduce free MRI and CT Scan facilities in 15 hospitals across the state, along with a shift from palmolin oil to sunflower oil distribution through Anganwadi centers.

In addition to Rao's address, Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai commended Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's adeptness in financial management. He revealed that the government had allocated Rs 20 crore for the establishment of a veterinary college in Koila. MESCOM MD D Padmavathi reported that while the state achieved an enrollment rate of 93% for the Gruha Jyoti Scheme, the district's enrollment stood at 79%.
