Mangaluru (TNN): Deputy leader of opposition in the assembly UT Khader said the percentage of bribes may increase from 40% to 100% if the BJP is elected to power again in Karnataka.

Comparing the BJP administration to that of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar governments, Khader said chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and industry minister Murugesh Nirani should resign on moral grounds for the corruption case related to the son of BJP MLA from Channagiri Madal Virupakshappa that came to light in the recent Lokayukta raid.

He also sought a judicial probe into the 40% commission charges levelled by the contractors’ association, private schools’ association, heads of mutts and the recruitment scam in the police department.

“Let Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and chief minister Basavaraj Bommai make their stand clear on corruption as well as the hike in price of essential commodities such as LPG cylinders. When the Congress raised the issue of 40% commission allegations made by the contractors of Karnataka, the BJP government sought evidence. Now, there is enough evidence for the corruption charges,” Khader told reporters on Saturday.

The Prime Minister and Union home minister, who have been frequently visiting Karnataka ahead of the Assembly election, should speak about the corruption, he said. “The rise in price of commercial LPG will indirectly affect the common man as hotels and eateries will increase prices. The BJP government is cheating people by hiking LPG price. The state government in Karnataka has failed to fulfil the aspirations of people,” he said.
