Karwar: While the police personnel of Uttara Kannada district are planning to take part in the state-wide protest scheduled to be held on Saturday, Superintendent of Police Vamsi Krishna claimed that no police constable applied for leave and that they were promised that their problems would be addressed.
The SP told reporters that some constables were planning to apply for leave but they were told that their problems were being listed out and would be submitted to the state government for further action. The constables withdrew their leave applications after the assurance, the SP said.
Vamsi Krishna also said that some police personnel were discussing the matter related to the Saturday strike on social media. They had been asked not to discuss such matter.
Some social organizations were planning to take to the streets to support the police strike. Such organizations had not obtained permission from the Police Department. If found protesting, action would be taken against them, he warned.
The SP also said that new residential quarters for police officials had been constructed and the old one would be demolished and rebuilt. Proposals have been sent to the government in this regard. The quality of ration being supplied to the police personnel was also being monitored.
