Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have maintained their top positions, ranking first and second respectively, in the Karnataka II Pre-University results for the fourth consecutive year.

Dakshina Kannada achieved a remarkable 97.37% pass rate, with 33,066 out of 33,960 fresh students passing the examination this year. This performance surpasses the results of 2023, where 29,578 out of 31,026 fresh students passed, recording a 95.33% success rate. The pass percentages were 88.02% in 2022 and 90.71% in 2020. In 2021, all students passed as examinations were canceled due to the second wave of COVID-19 in the State.

Over the past decade, Dakshina Kannada has topped the state eight times, securing the second position in 2017 (89.92%) and 2019 (90.19%).

Similarly, Udupi District recorded a commendable 96.8% pass rate, with 14,837 out of 15,964 fresh students passing the examination this year. This surpasses the 2023 results of 95.24%. In 2022, the pass percentage for Udupi district was 86.38%.

Detailed Results:
This year, a total of 35,928 students, including 1,584 private students and 384 repeaters, wrote the examination in Dakshina Kannada, of which 34,361 passed.

Among the 34,361 students who passed, 24,226 are from urban areas and 10,137 are from rural areas. There were 31,035 students from the English medium and 3,326 from the Kannada medium. Of these, 17,621 were girls, and 16,740 were boys. The highest number of students (17,836) passed in the science stream, followed by 13,097 in the commerce stream and 3,428 in the arts stream.

In Udupi district, a total of 15,189 students out of 15,964 passed this year. Apart from 14,837 fresh students, 259 private students and 93 repeaters passed.

Of those who passed, 7,966 were girls, and 7,223 were boys. Among them, 13,439 were from the English medium and 1,750 from the Kannada medium. A total of 7,876 students were from urban areas, while 7,313 were from rural areas. The highest number of students (7,622) passed in the science stream, followed by 6,513 in commerce and 1,054 in the arts stream.

Deputy Directors of the Pre-University Department from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, C.D. Jayanna and Maruti, attributed the success to the dedicated efforts of teachers in the region and the hard work of the students. They mentioned that special classes were conducted for slow learners, besides encouraging students to solve different question patterns.
