Mysore: Four members of a family were found dead under suspicious circumstances in Yaraganahalli, Mysore.

The deceased have been identified as Kumaraswamy (45), who ran a laundry shop next to JSS School in Siddarthanagar; his wife Manjula (39); and their children Archana (19) and Swathi (17). It is suspected that they may have died of suffocation due to a gas cylinder leak.

Sources indicate that the children were sleeping in separate rooms, while the parents slept together in another room. Archana and Swathi were college students. When they did not attend college for the past two days, their friends tried to contact them. Unable to reach them, the friends visited their home, discovering the tragic scene. Four gas cylinders were reportedly found in the house.

The deaths are believed to have occurred two days ago, on Monday. According to the police, the family hails from Sakharayapatna in the Chikkamagaluru district but had been residing in Mysore for 30 years.

The family had attended a wedding on Sunday and returned home on Monday morning. They went to bed that night, but by morning, all had died in their sleep.

Nazarbad Police stated that the incident may have been caused by the small, poorly ventilated house with closed windows.

The police, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, rushed to the scene and arranged to shift the bodies to the mortuary at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute.

The police have registered a case, and Mysuru City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, along with Nazarbad police officials, visited the spot and reviewed the situation.
