Haniya Haneef Becomes First Woman from Coastal Muslim Community to Qualify as Commercial Pilot

Mangaluru: Haniya Haneef, a 21-year-old from Pandeshwara in Mangaluru, has successfully qualified as a commercial pilot after completing her II PUC. She underwent rigorous pilot training for three and a half years at Orient Flights Aviation Academy in Mysuru, where she logged 200 hours of flight time and obtained her commercial pilot license.

Haniya holds the distinction of being the first woman from the coastal Muslim community in Mangaluru to achieve such a feat. Her passion for flying developed during her childhood spent in Dubai, where she frequently traveled by air and harbored a deep desire to become a pilot.

Despite initial opposition from some, Haniya's parents, Mohammed Haneef and Naziya, wholeheartedly supported her dream. They had faith in her abilities and continuously instilled confidence in her throughout her journey. Their unwavering support enabled Haniya to realize her dream and become a pilot.

Haniya's educational journey included studying up to the eighth grade in Dubai, followed by the ninth grade at Lourdes School in Bejai. She later attended Mahesh PU College before enrolling in an aviation academy in Mysuru to pursue her aviation studies.

In recognition of her achievement, Haniya is now preparing for interviews with various companies for pilot positions. Additionally, she will undergo a two-month simulation training program on pilot operations in Madrid, Spain, further enhancing her skills and knowledge in the field.

Haniya's accomplishment has garnered praise and admiration from all quarters. Her father, Haneef, proudly shares that despite the opposition they faced initially, their priority was supporting their daughter's dream. Haniya's determination and drive were evident throughout her journey, leading her to this remarkable achievement.

As Haniya moves forward in her career, she serves as an inspiration to aspiring pilots, particularly women, proving that with dedication, perseverance, and a strong support system, dreams can become a reality. Her groundbreaking accomplishment as a qualified commercial pilot opens doors for others to follow in her footsteps and break barriers in the aviation industry.
