Karwar: Boulders rolled from Sadashivagada hills while clearing the hill for laying a temporary road at Kali River. No casualty was reported as vehicular traffic was not allowed on this road.

A part of Sadashivagada hill is being cleared for widening the National Highway 66 (17) four-lane road since some months. Mumbai-based firm IRB Company has got the contraction of implementing the project. The firm immediately cleared the boulders using JCB machines.

It may be recalled that there that two weeks ago similar incident had happened and the traffic on this national highway was affected for five hours as rocks had fell on the road.

“The company which is implementing the project should take precautionary measures to ensure that boulders do not roll down on road and cause loss to lives and properties,” Mahesh Naik, a resident said.
