Karwar: Cleaning drive held at Tagore beach

Karwar: A cleaning drive was organized at Tagore beach in Karwar as part of the G-20 summit.  

The Office of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) took the initiative to raise global awareness about marine plastic pollution and its impact on marine life. The event aimed to prevent marine pollution by maintaining clean beaches, and it involved the participation of various groups, including Star Choice School staff, NSS team from Divekar College, Coastal Guard personnel, Forest Department staff, and District Science Centre employees.  

The cleaning drive covered a distance of one kilometer and included activities such as a painting competition, sand art, a selfie point, and a signature campaign.  

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the painting competition, and the event witnessed the presence of notable individuals like Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Eshwar Kandoo, Coastal Guard Commandant Pradeep, Deputy Conservator of Forest K C Prashanth Kumar, and Nehru Yuva Kendra District Officer Yashwanth Yadav.  

The cleaning drive served as a collective effort to create awareness and promote the importance of keeping beaches clean and free from pollution.
