Mangaluru: A 34-year-old man was arrested by the Bajpe police on Monday for stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh from a house in Karodi, Bajpe. 

The accused had been identified as  Vincent D'Souza, is a resident of Tarikambla. He was arrested at the Kinnipadavu checkpost.

The theft took place on September 1st. The police have recovered 80 grams of gold worth Rs 5 lakh from the accused.

According to the police, the accused broke into the house when the occupants were away and stole the gold ornaments. He was nabbed by the police while he was trying to sell the stolen ornaments.

The police have registered a case.
