TMC incharge president and officials visit Bhatkal’s nawayat colony; Issues of illegal stalls and garbage piles raised

Bhatkal: The Young Muslim Service Association (YMSA) called upon Bhatkal Town Municipal Council (TMC) incharge President, the local councillor, and other officials to address ongoing issues in the area. The YMSA officials led a tour of the problematic spots, highlighting the issues, and demanded immediate resolutions. The complaints raised included the presence of illegal stalls and piles of garbage accumulating at various locations, with the association pointing out that the area, which contributes the highest municipal taxes, is suffering due to the negligence of the municipal authorities.

YMSA President Fawwaz Sukri highlighted the deteriorating condition of the roads, potholes, and poor cleanliness arrangements. He noted that although garbage is removed following complaints, it accumulates again within two to three days. He requested the municipal authorities to provide a permanent solution to the problem. YMSA Vice President Javid Hussain Armar drew attention to the growing number of illegal stalls along the roadsides in Nawayat Colony and Jali Road and demanded their immediate removal. He emphasized that these stalls were negatively impacting the beauty of the area and causing difficulties for commuters.

Inayatullah Shabandari, President of the century-old Muslim Social Organization, Majlis Islah o Tanzeem, and an active member of YMSA, stressed the importance of cleaning the drains meant for rainwater drainage. He explained that the drains, which should direct rainwater from Nawayat Colony to the larger drains along the National Highway, were blocked due to accumulated mud. As a result, water from the drains was flowing back into Nawayat Colony, flooding compounds and homes. Inayatullah Shabandari also mentioned the issue of water collecting on the National Highway during the rainy season, attributing it to the lack of timely cleaning of the drains, which causes the entire highway to become submerged.

After listening to all the complaints at the YMSA office, the YMSA officials took the TMC officials on a tour of Nawayat Colony, where the various problems were pointed out, and a real-time assessment was made. During this visit, Municipal In-Charge President Muhiddin Altaf Kharuri and Chief Officer Venkatesh Nauda assured the officials that they would address the raised issues and attempt to resolve them within the next few days. The municipal authorities also urged the residents of the area to pay more attention to cleanliness and cooperate with the municipality.

The meeting at the YMSA office in Nawayat Colony began with a recitation by Maulavi Abdul Muneem Kobatte Nadvi. Nawayat Colony Municipal Councillor Parvez Qasimji, YMSA General Secretary Advocate Afaq Kola, Municipal Standing Committee Chairman Qaisar Mohtisham, TMC Health Officer Mrs. Sujia Suman, well-known social worker Nisar Top Ruknuddin, and others were present.
