Bhatkal: The two-day workshop organized by Rabita Society to encourage college students to participate in civil service exams commenced with Maulana Fazlurrahim Mujaddidi, chairman of Crescent Academy For Civil Service Exams from New Delhi, addressing the students and patrons. He expressed deep concern over the educational status of the country's Muslims, highlighting that poverty has led to a significant drop-out rate among them, with 90 percent unable to pursue higher education. This has resulted in Muslims having the lowest per capita income in the nation, exacerbating their situation in 2023 compared to other communities.

Mujaddidi referenced a survey indicating that despite Muslims constituting 14 percent of the population, their representation in the civil service is less than 3 percent, contrasting starkly with smaller communities with 37 percent representation. He emphasized the need for equitable representation, especially in states like Uttar Pradesh, which, despite low general education ratios, boast considerable awareness and success in civil service exams.

Highlighting the absence of Karnataka in the list of top contributors to civil services, Mujaddidi underscored the need for improvement, particularly in states known for educational advancements. He urged the Muslim community in Bhatkal to utilize their educational advantages for broader societal benefits, stressing the importance of education in upliftment.

The workshop commenced with recitation of holy Quran, followed by insightful speeches by Qazi Jamatul Muslimeen Maulana Abdul Rab  Khateeb Nadvi, Maulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadvi, Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi and Maulana Maqbool Kobatte Nadvi. After the Isha prayers, Maulana Mujaddidi delivered a compelling address, admonishing Muslims for their educational stagnation and urging them to strive for educational excellence.

Following Mujaddidi's speech, his team members provided guidance on civil service exams to the students. The workshop will continue on Monday, featuring a talent test at 5:00 PM. The Rabita Society announced special prizes for the top five performers in the test, encouraging students to participate actively in the event.
